Re: Been a while, what's your thoughts?
Jacob, are you still rolling with the Attax head? Just curious, I remember you were a huge fan of that. Or are you on the 5150 thing?
Dig the music ... very Lacuna-coil ish and thats a good thing. Kinda Lacuna-coil meets Flyleaf but she sounds like a much better singer than the flyleaf chick.
I'm not out touring, but I'm gigging covers weekly (winding down now though). I use a rack setup (Demeter TGP-3 -> G Major 2 -> Fryette 2/50/2) and I'm really happy with the setup. This coming from an "analog guy" who builds amps / pedals. The G major 2 is very convenient... I step on one button and I got an octave down distorted sound a la 311 and then another one and I've got Delay, reverb, and some phase on the delayed repeats only clean sound a la Incubus. One... friggin'... button. And it sounds good too... phaser is a dead ringer for a phase 90. I run the gmajor 2 in line with the preamp at line level. output of that goes into the 2/50/2. The only thing with the G major 2 is that it isnt on-the-fly tweakable, for writing songs and what have you.
If you're looking for a midi controller, I suggest the Liquid Foot Junior, if you're only looking for something small. My big issue trying to find a midi controller was something compact as I dont need a lot of fancy switches. I set the Gmaj2 up in terms of patches because its easier for me than setting up IA switches. I have a main distortion patch, clean patch, crunch patch, and lead patch (the other nice thing about the Gmaj2 is that it has an EQ section with boost capabilities... set the EQ ranges right and you can get a full frequency boost of 1-6dB... I set the eq flat and boost 2dB for solo boost... one less pedal I need to bring around). If I remember, you were a pretty straightforward dude when it came to your setup, I'd say you'd probably like the Liquid Foot Junior. All I bring to a gig in terms of pedals is the midi controller, a wah pedal, and a strobostomp. I have an expression pedal but I rarely use it.
Good to see you back around these parts. Congrats on the new gig.
