Been holding out for a 335...

Re: Been holding out for a 335...

Don't be duped into thinking that Gibson Memphis is outside the influence of the god-awful QC that's afflicting the Nashville plant.

There's a reason my brand new ES-137 was returned - the guitar was literally coming apart at the seams!! I returned it and bought a brand new USA PRS and USA Fender with the money and haven't looked back...

Buying a guitar is something like selecting a women you want to spend time with. Its not just how pretty they are, they have to fit right. What I mean is simple You have to play many guitars of the same one to find the one that is right for you. Ordering a guitar through a Website or internet based retailer is just not something I could ever do! I need to put the guitar in my hands to see if it is going to be the right one. A lot of people are buying guitars online, no big deal I guess, but consider that you have some kid in a warehouse sorting through guitars and shipping it when they find it. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. I for one will never buy a guitar this way. I gotta play it before I buy it.

I am currently searching for a few guitars, they will be hard to find and I may have to settle for buying it online because they are rare and few stores carry them, but I will exhaust all other possibilities before I order it online. Pictures don't tell you much on how it plays or feels, or the build quality.

I returned an ES137 classic last fall for several finishing flaws and a hairline crack where the body and neck were separating, and this was brand new! The guy at the store was telling me he went to 'Gibson school' and that there was nothing wrong with it, but I just couldn't swallow it, not for $1500.

I'd most likely have to go play and find this guitar first, and take it home with me, if I can find the right 335. Then again, if the right deal is online, so be it.
