i was playing a show at a frat last night with my band and kids got a little crazy and some beer sprayed on my guitar. I wiped most of it off but i think some got on my new little '59 and i was wondering what's the safest way to clean it off?

Re: beer on my pickup!!!!!!

as long as you dont plug in before its dried, there shouldnt be any problems. you could probably just wipe it off with a damp paper towel or something. beer cleans up pretty easy, trust me ive spilled a lotta beer in my life (mostly on myself though) :laugh2:

Yes, ex-250 is right. Just wait until it dries (a day or two to be sure) and you'll be fine. I've spilled beer on my guitars and done no real harm (except that my bandmates woudl point fingers and call me drunkard...but no harm to the guiar anyway).

Re: beer on my pickup!!!!!!

Take it out and send it to me. I'll test it for a while, and if it checks out ok, I'll send it back.

Didn't Dave Mustaine electrocute the first Metallica bassist by pouring beer in his pickups? :laugh2:

Yup! Yet another blank point in METAL history made clear, thank you :)

Don't sweat it..

If spilling beer on pickups (and guitars in general) ruined them, I'd be ordering new ones every week..

:biglaugh:

Re: beer on my pickup!!!!!!

What do you think gives all those old PAFs and Broadcaster pickups their mojo? It's not the mysterious winding and wire and magnets, etc... it's all the beer, whiskey and tobacco smoke they've been subjected to all these years! :D
