Behringer? any thought?

Re: Behringer? any thought?

I wish I could have something bad to say about Behringer, but I don't......other than the fact that they steal designs, then have them produced in China.

I have the Behringer Truth powered monitors in my studio, and they kick ass. I also have a Behringer mixer in my PA system, and it does it's job with no failure.

Basically, they stole Mackie's schematics and had them mass produced by Chinese, who work for a bowl of rice. Still good though. I feel bad for that, except it outperforms anything I've ever bought from Carvin or other budget companies.

Re: Behringer? any thought?

I use 2 MX802A mixers to record and I have 4 DI's, 2 DI-100's, a DI-20 (Which I really like, it's two active DI's in 1 box) and I recently got a GI-100 DI w/ 4x12 simulation that I'm toying with. I've found, having worked for a Behringer Dealer that generally their un-powered gear works well (Passive mixers, di's, headphones etc) but their amplified units (Guitar amps, power amps etc) lack Umph and can't keep up to what their ratings show.

Mind you, I've found the same with Yorkville/Traynor gear... :) But that's another story...

Re: Behringer? any thought?

Behringer is not the only company to copy someone's design. What about the JTM45 Marshall :13: I think a lot of companies do the rev-eng thingy.

Yes but Marshall eventually ABANDONED using Fender designs and moved into their own thing... Plus the JTM45 sounded much different due to different components being subbed for stuff that wasn't easily available in the 60's in the UK. Jim Marshall took designs from Fender, changed it to get what his customers wanted, and kept doing that until Marshall had their own thing going on.

Behringer just... copies.
