benefit from replacing electronics

How much of a sound benefit would replacing all the electronics (except the new pickups I bought) help the sound in an Epiphone Les Paul? Also, what other mods could I do to help it sound better?

Re: benefit from replacing electronics

The only thing i notice with my 2 Epi guitars is they are noisy and full of shorts.... That is the main reason i'm changing my pots and switches and all wire.... Get rid of the shorts and cheap pots and you should have better sound.... Not all Epi's have these problems but my 2 do!

I'd say that reliability is more a issue. With high quality electronics you may find a slight audio improvement, But you won't have to worry so much about
componet failure.

+ 1 Excellent advice

I like the smooth, sort of dampened feeling of CTS pots, as opposed to cheaper ones that turn very easily.

Better switches are crisper and more certain of position-so there's no in between spots that short or scratch out during pickup changes.
