Best 12's for a DRRI?

I'm very sure I'm going to order a 2X12 from Avatar, just not sure which 12's will give me the best of both worlds.

I'm using my Les Paul in channel 1 with a DigiTech Bad Monkey pedal for my OD tones. I've got my Ric 330 going into channel 2 for 90% clean, 10% OD with a Boss OD-3 pedal. So I need some 12's that will excell at both clean and overdriven sounds.

Right now I'm using a Hellatone 30 in a closed back 1X12 cabinet that I made and it actually sounds pretty good. Just wondering if there might be something that's even better. Thanks for your time.

Which 2x12 are you looking at?

If I'm remembering right I think it's the Custom 2X12 cabinet. If that's the one I think it has an optional open/closed back and I like the idea of having that option so I can hear for myself which sounds best.

YOu might try mixiinig that hellatone 30 with a hellatone 60L. that would approach the very popular G12H30/V30 combinatoin.

In a DRRI, I've tried various speakers. I put a Weber Chicago in one that worked out pretty well. The Weber California gets rave reveiews in that amp.

I'd not hesitate to put a Texas Heat into any 60's style Fender amp. They sound great.

I've tried jillions and the one I think sounds best is the Celestion G12H30 and if I didn't have a G12H30 I'd go for the Vintage 30...although the V30 is a little brighter and doesn't sound as full as the G12H30 in a small cabinet like the DR.

The Celestions are also more efficeint than the Jensens and your amp will will sound bigger and have more volume, depth and definition when cranked.

I've had old and new Jensen C12N's and all kinds of Celestions and Webers in my two DR's.
