Best 20' xlr cable under $30

I just got a regular standard monster cable, but I just got it for testing the mic I just got. I plan to return the cable back to gc soon cause they didn't have much of a selection, and I thought I could get better advice for what xlr cable to get from here on the forum.

I'm looking to get a standard male to female xlr cable at 20'. I don't really know about the types, but staying away from the mainstream stuff like monster is obvious. I got the cable for $27.95+tax. Just hit me with suggestions and links if you have any to make to easier for my search.

You didn't like the monster?

I've heard that Mogami XLR cables are pretty good. I have a friend that has a studio in Nashville and all he uses are Mogami and Monster.

It works fine, but I thought monster was a bad brand, and I could get better for the price. I'm just staying away from mogami based on the high prices.

Well, there are high-end Monsters for a high-end price and low-end Monsters, which I expect you got. But honestly, I think their low-end stuff is probably as good as any in that price range.

Lava Cable sells a Canare 20' for $29.95. I've always found him to be an excellent source for this kind of information. If you email him, he'll tell you what he thinks and you can always trust him.

Re: Best 20' xlr cable under $30

why not just hang onto the monster? their lower end stuff isn't any worse than anything else out there.

but when it comes down to it, for me it's all about the connectors. i like to have connectors that can be unscrewed from the cable, so if the cable breaks all you have to do is unscrew it and spend 30 seconds soldering the thing back together.
