Best $50 to $100 Bedroom Amp

I'm looking at completely ditching my Marshall MG10CD (yeah I know, but I was retarded when I bought it as my first amp) that I keep in my bedroom just for screwin around. My normal amp is a Vox AD15VT that I use for everything, so this amp would be JUST for the bedroom. It doesn't need 500000 features or need to take pedals well, I just want it to sound half-ass enough to noodle on from time to time.

What'd ya'll recommend for something with some decent cleans, and smooth bluesy overdrive? I don't need high gain overdrive, just like 60s blues rock overdrive. An EQ would be very nice to have, and so would reverb, but I imagine I'm asking a bit too much for $100 max. Mainly I just want it to have a decent bluesy sounding overdrive and a cool clean channel. And it must be SMALL.... probably nothing over 10 watts if I had to imagine. And I'm not too sure if I like the Micro Cube or not, so lets cast that one aside for this. And no Line 6 junk either. And lets try to keep this more TOWARDS the $50 if we can.

How are some of these?

i just read in a magazine a review that these little wee Fender G-Dec Junior things are said to be really great for that sort of low volume small sized mini amp..

Why not just use the AD15VT for your bedroom?

cg

because I'm not hauling that thing up and down stairs and it's in a fixed position where it's at in my basement. I keep a small amp in my room for the rare occasion I play up there. Yes the AD15VT is a small amp too, but it's also way too loud in a volume restricted household (my parents want to be able to hear themselves think from time to time). For me, it's plenty big for my "main amp." I don't gig or any of that whatnot, I'm just a hobby basement player

In that price range, any Crate, Marshall, Peavey, Epiphone, etc., solid state combo will do the job. I still like my first amp, which is a 15-watt Crate. At low volumes, it gets some awesome tones.

Epi has cheap solid state? I thought they only had those 3 or 4 tube amps....

I must also say that I'm been considering the Vox Pathfinder 15R fo $120. It's got two channels, boost button, gain and volume controls, treble and bass controls, reverb, and a fully shapable tremolo effect. I hear the overdrive is quite nice and smooth too

Re: Best $50 to $100 Bedroom Amp

I have a couple of those darts. best deal in the world right now, still on clerance at The 'Fiend.. id love to pick up a couple more, since I now have only one, I gave one away.
It really does have lovely little cleans. Its very low volume though. Noice reverb. Built like a brick tank, and cool as hell lookin'. one thing tho, it has this screamin brutal distortion , which is cool, but you cant get a good classic rock crunch IMOand nothing in between clean and that over the top distortion, so you nmay want to use a pedal.I love my Dart , but i use it for practicing and cleans only, very seldom use the dirt.

Check out those little Kustom 15 watters with the Celestion in them.

Small, light, great clean, and the dirt's surprisingly good as well.

Bedroom amp that nobody else can hear, eh?

These little numbers by VOX are the ticket...you can run in a CD or Mp3 player, and it has a headphone out. You won't need anything else if the parents never want to hear it. You should think about the AC-30 one. It's gonna be the smoothest one of them all. They're so cheap, maybe you could buy two.

Re: Best $50 to $100 Bedroom Amp

I have the Vox Classic Rock amplug and it's great for clean even up to metal. I haven't tried running it through the amp yet, but I've heard good results doing that.

I also just bought a Dart 66 and it sounds decent for practice at low volume levels (one of the reasons I bought the Vox amplug first for. I figured for a small combo it might be loud enough if driven loudly but it was struggling to keep up even with a quiet drummer and bass playing on moderately low levels. I did everything to help the Dart push out volume too, I boosted it all the way with the Seymour Duncan Booster as well as boosting the gain AND volume with my MXR M-108 EQ and either a)Marshall Guv Nor 2 distortion pedal or b)MXR Doubleshot Distortion pedal. I even bypassed the speaker using my Raezor's Edge cabinet but 10 watts can only get so loud, and with all that it still sounded thin/SS sounding. The blue tuk n roll LOOKS cool though.
