The best low wattage amp I've ever tried is the 4w Matamp Little Rock.
It's the 'bigger brother' to the 2w Minimat that SirJackdeFuzz mentioned above
The Minimat can come with either a 6v6 or an EL84 power valve, it also has a built in 'boost' function for more drive, a tone control and a volume control, and that's it
The Little Rock has a 6v6 Power valve, 2 stage EQ (Bass and Treble), Gain, volume and master controls aswell as a 6 position voice switch (3 clean voices and 3 overdrive voices).
Both are great amps, and quite cheap for what you get at £259 (Minimat) and £299 (Little Rock).
