When I was researching acoustics, I found that most Larrivee and Tacoma models without a ton of fanciness were the best bang for the buck. Paricularily the Larrivee D 03 and Tacoma DM18, which I bought.

I have a cheap Washburn DC10E that I paid 250 for at least 6 years ago, that guitar has travelled coast to coast with me, It plays great, has a Fishman eq in it and amplified, it still sounds like an accoustic should. I've had people offer me alot of money for it, Until I tell them they can get one just like it for around 250. In fairness, I did shave the bridge saddle a little bit, just for lower action, but that's all I've done to it. It came with Grovers on it! Clean and bright tone. I also have and Ibanez 12 string that I'm real fond of .

well depends on what price your looking at?
for me im very much into bang for the buck type deals and i often investigate alot which ends up helping me be more guitar gear savy.
I have an ibanez acoustic.. specifically the "artwood" line. The others are ok but the artwoods or the older ones were really built well and sound so good.
I have an artwood 200cent they dont make anymore but have newer versions of. Its a cutaway with fishman matrix eq,grover gold tuners, bubinga neck and flamed maple sides and back with nice abalone dot inlays (mother of pearl kind ).
i got it for 550. It sounds really damn close to a martin/taylor. People are really amazed at how good acoustically it sounds. Its even nicer through a p.a. or acoustic amp with the eq.
try the artwood series.. really really good guitars for their price.
and i will aggree tacoma and larrivee make good stuff. check out the details and specs on every guitar you look at. it makes a difference when you understand it.

For cheap a Hohner Orion gives a lot of bang for the buck. Excellent playability and the tone isn't bad at all.

Are you looking for an acoustic with electronics or without. Yamaha makes great acoustic guitars.

For a cheaper acoustic, I say Ovation. I have a 1771LX that I love. It feels good, plays good, sounds great both unplugged and plugged in and that's what it really comes down to. If you want an acoustic you don't have to mess with humidifiers to keep it sounding great, Ovations really are a great idea.
I'm primarily an electric guitar player, but this acoustic delivers enough for me to stop caring about the others. That's the nicest thing I can say about a guitar

I'm an Ovation fan. The Celebrity series is low priced and maintains the Ovation specs. I'd stay away from Applause. I know they're basically the same instrument, but there are differences in construction that you don't find in the Celebrity series. I just picked up a beautiful Celebrity series 12 string for about $500. Helluva deal!

Blue Ridge!! HellRider 77 told me about them so, I went to a local store to try them out and they were butter!!! Played great and sounded even better!!!

If you are looking for something in the lower range this Rogue Grand Concert is quite good, matter of fact, i am playing one right now and i really like it...... and im not the only one.

i got this takamine g-series cedar top or whatever at guitarcenter for like $299. i have to say that it sounded and played alot better than this other $600 takamine that i tried out. the neck is SOOOO smooth and its really easy to play. i have an optimistic feeliung that its my #1 acoustic axe for the next 20 years.

I'm with Woodcutter, I got my APX5A, no regrets. Sounds great, I'm short so the thickness really suits me, great sound pluged in or just acoustically, and the best neck on an acoustic I could find for 500.

I've heard a lot of good things about Seagull - my next one will most likely be that.
Currently I have a Takamine and I absolutely love it.
I'm more into value than a "name". In other words, I don't mind spending a bit more for quality, but not for a name. I spend a lot of time shopping for the value, but I am generally happy with it.
