Best Amp For Telecaster

What is your favorite amp to run a Tele through? Looking for a nice, full clean with lots of chime. As far as OD goes, I could use a pedal.............

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I think a FENDER 65TWIN REVERB would be really nice. In my opinion one of the best clean amp on the planet and it takes pedals well. It's a bit more pricey but I think it will fit the bill.

But, perhaps it's too loud. You should check one out.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I bet a roland jazz chorus would sound good, simply because that amp has a great clean sound.

The Fender Vibrolux Reverb is the amp used by Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan.

Had to beat it...but I love the way my Tele sounds through my modded Fender Deluxe Reverb amps too.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

My choice would be an pre-top boost AC-30. I'm partial to the Dr. Z Stang Ray right now for straight cleans, but my Dr. Z Prescription ES is amazing for that chime while overdriven tone. FYI, it doesn't get dirty until over 5, and that's pretty dang loud!

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

what models? I don't really have much experiance with Fender amps. I've always been more of a Marshall guy.

The Fender HotRod DeLuxe or HotRod DeVille (I prefer the DeLuxe; I find the DeVille too loud for my purposes) are the best production modern clean sounding amps on the market, and second to none to that classic chicken-picking telly twang you're looking for, all for an affordable price.

Of course there are a lot boutique amps that they could give you the same sound... making you an extra two G's poorer.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I kinda like the idea of a lower watt amp head and maybe a 2x12 cab. I am thinking of looking into some Dr. Z stuff, but would like a cheaper alternative if anyone has any.

I kinda like the specs on the Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue, but it may be a little too much for what I am wanting.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

look at a Dr.z carmen ghia. i like the one i have alot. 18 watts a volume knob and a tone knob.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Fender Vibrolux Reverb - #1
Fender Deluxe Reverb - # 2

These amps were designed with the telecaster in mind.

For those old enough to remember, the telecaster was in the 60's the primo guitar for rock and roll, not the Les Paul or the Stratocaster. And these were almost always played using the amps I stated above.

Personally, this is what I would go with as well. For some serious sparkle and more refinement, check out a Tone King Meteor:

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I think you could almost go through the entire Fender line from the Champ to the Twin, depending on your power and headroom requirements... Princeton, Deluxe, Super, Twin, they all sound different but equally good.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Keith and I checked out that Tone King Meteor at Truetone Music in Santa Monica a couple years ago. We both never forgot about that amp. Neither did a lot of great tele players. I think it's also Mark Knopfler's amp of choice nowadays.

Yup, that Tone King we played at TrueTone Music is burned in my brain. That was my first experience with an ASAT, too.

ASAT—cable—Tone King

OMG WTF FTW

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

My ASAT is going into the '68 Bassman head for the moment, but I'd love to have a nice Tweed Deluxe, DR, or DRll(last production hand-wired amp in the Fender stable.)
