Best Amp For Telecaster

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

That Toneking looks wicked! I don't know f anyone around here that sell them though. That's my biggest problem is not being able to try stuff before I buy. I have to drive over an hour just to try Fender and Marshall stuff. I would really like to try a few Fender Re-issues beside maybe some Dr. Z a Matchless Cheiftain Head and maybe that Toneking. Problem is, no one carries Matchless, Dr. Z or Toneking.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

A hi-power tweed Fender Twin (which is what Gatton used once he got some dough): with some good broken-in P12Ns, you rule the world...

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

my little dawg champster is great with the tele but so is my Z. I am hoping that the greer studio is just as good.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I LOVE the sound of a Tele pushing hard driven toes through a Marshall JCM 800, and I love how my Teles sounds through my Traynor YCV 40, but for you I'd suggest the Fender Bassman, takes pedals well, awesome cleans, and huge driven sound. Really DANG loud too. Vibrolux and Deluxe Reverbs would also go quite nicely

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

The victoria double deluxe is an all-time killer tele amp. Most tweed amps are a good time with a tele. After all, they were designed to go with each other.

As far as other amps go, I've been doing a bunch of tracking with a tele recently. Two amps that absolutely shone with a tele were the Bogner Shiva 6l6 1x12 combo (on it's overdrive channel or with the clean dimed) and the vox channel of the 65 London combo.

Then you are a little too far to try our Route 66. But some of the guys might know a good music store near you. Although "Alabama" is a pretty big location.;)
We bought our Rt 66 from a Country Player. He used it in conjunction with a 1964 AC30. He liked the paring, but just needed to lighten his load and you can always by another Rt 66. So there you have it...

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

I bet a roland jazz chorus would sound good, simply because that amp has a great clean sound.

I run a stock american tele into a Roland jazz chorus 120 with the chorus/reverb on and it sounds beautiful. Some much room for the clean sound. Gorgeous

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

A little tweed champ,or tweed deluxe, tweed bassman or similar.

Something Tweed :D

But my old Charvy Tele sounded great through a cranked Marshall too :bigthumb:

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Anything. Seriously. There is no good-sounding amp through which a Tele would sound bad.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

A Vibrolux is the amp that was made for a Tele!

That's right. Both Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan knew the Vibrolux Reverb was the one to use...and you are not going to find a Tele player with better tone than either of those guys.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

my favorite is a tweed deluxe, but almost any tweed amp is killer. a bassman is great but too loud for anything i do. if you want spanky clean twang a bf twin is hard to beat
