Best Amp For Telecaster

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

What is your favorite amp to run a Tele through? Looking for a nice, full clean with lots of chime. As far as OD goes, I could use a pedal.............

I'd say Fender too, but that's my personal preference. In theory, you can run it through any amp you want, just use the tone knobs and the amp's EQ.

Just go to a music store and try them all out. You may be surprised at what you go home with.

I own a '72 silver face twin. It works with Fender guitars very well (EQ all on 5). I also own a Fender Pro Junior. Same concept. Usually Fender guitars and amps work great together, but you should be able to use a Telecaster with any good amp, so long as you play with settings.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Howdy,

For clean on a budget, test-drive a Fender red knob Super 112 or 210. The red knob "The Twin" or Dual Showman would be good, obviously. My 1991 Super 112 has needed only a single repair in 16 years!
For clean tones these amps are fantastic. I like using a Rickenbacker 12 through the clean channel. For Teles the clean channel is great for Bakersfield sparkle & twang. And talk about headroom, My Teles will only overdrive my Super 112 when the volume is set to 10! Under-rated amps, IMHO. Good luck!

Eggman
PS: My red knob "The Twin" sounds great, too. It has a 25% power switch, allowing me to overdrive a single 6L6 tube the old-fashioned way.

Anything. Seriously. There is no good-sounding amp through which a Tele would sound bad.

Yea, I love my telecaster through every channel on my 6505+.

I actually preferred its clean channel with my tele, to my classic 50 I had.

That amp can lay down some massive twangy hairy edged clean tones when asked to.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

my tele pairs up with my champ II really well. it just sounds good! if you want me to nail it down further, an F or G sound just like the kinks, anything else kinda depend on how you pick it, you can go clean and twangy, or more rock...

my brother uses a tele/ac30 which isnt bad either. i actually really like the ac30

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Almost hands down, a Fender Twin. HOWEVER....depending on what you want to do with a Tele, 'cuz they're extremely versatile, a Tele into a Marshall (any Marshall) sounds killer, too. Run a Tele into a Rivera and you'll get amazing twang and cluck. Run a Tele into a Soldano and you'll sound like John 5. It just depends on what you want to do with it.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Loud and clean ... Traynor Bass Master II. Wonderful. Loud and clean second option here ... Eldiabo 60C set to 60w mode.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Thread Necromancy!

Bad part is I'm still "thinking" of getting a Tele. Too many Les Pauls ahve came through..........

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

When I had a tele, I played it through a blues deluxe. That was a killer setup to play the blues.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

Anything can work well with a Tele (I don't mean literally, but you get what I mean).
Jeff Buckley ran his Teles through a Mesa Boogie for his crunch tone, sounded great.

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

ac-30, hiwatt 50 watt, reeves 50 watt are all great!

Ya the fender amps were the amp of choice in bars in Bakersfield, among tele players back in the day...however I have been surprised when I go back home to see and hear solid state, (non tube) amps in a few places ...and I've done more than one double-take! especially with Line 6 amps.

I sent back a new Princeton 65 reissue, that sounded terrible above vol. 3...nothing like the '68 I had stolen out of my car in 'Frisco...may have to finally go solid state as most fenders weigh a ton..

Re: Best Amp For Telecaster

tele into '66 deluxe reverb always sounds great to me.
