Re: best amp
I've been playing my Marshall DSL50 and Fender Blues DeVille a lot lately, but last night I plugged back into my 22 watt Fender DRRI and was very pleasantly reminded why this amp is one of the classics. It seems like I'm always tweaking controls on my Marshall to get the right amount of output or gain to get the right combination of clean and overdrive when I kick a TS-9 or my Plexitone in with it; but with the DRRI all I had to do is plug my pedalboard into it, crank the treble and bass all the way up, volume up to about 3 (for 22 watts it's pretty damn loud) and I can rock that up good for hours. Great cleans, great amp to push into overdrive that breaks up nicely. Granted, it doesn't produce the Marshall sound (duh, it's a Fender....lol) but with the CM Plexitone or a Tubescreamer I can get pretty close.
It's got my vote for an excellent all around all-tube amp.
Oh, and it's light, too!
