Best bang-for-buck acoustic electric?

Re: Best bang-for-buck acoustic electric?

UPDATE :

Played a few guitars at the store.

- I didn't like the Ovations as much as I thought I would. The ones in my price range lacked low end projection.
- Art & Lutherie, and Simon Patrick are really nice guitars, I had played them before, and they don't disappoint.
- Could not find a Yamaha that I liked. The plastic feel things again.
- Takamine was the surprise of the day! Holy crap! For the price, what an amazing instrument!

So a day after that, an old friend views one of my adds online, about looking for an acoustic, and calls me to offer up a G series Takamine for a really good deal. I ask him about the guitar, and he tells me it's real nice, and he hand picked it. I really, really trust this guy, so I decided to go with this option.

It's a G series, not sure what model, but it is acoustic electric, with a cut-away, and is black gloss. I am meeting with him later this week, and will be the happy new owner of a Takamine, a brand of guitar I had only tried once in the last 10 years or so.

I'm glad that you have found what you wanted/needed. I am also glad that you gave a wide assortment of makes and models a fair go before deciding. Enjoy. :)

It was a long, long, long process. The store I went to has 2 huge walls, about 50ft long each, plastered in wall racks covered in acoustics. I literally had a bar stool, and just slid it down as I was going down the wall, playing literally everything in my price range, even if it didn't fit what I wanted in terms of top wood, or looks. I must have been there a good 3 hours. The reason I went Takamine, is for the price, they where all very consistently resonant and very playable. The fact that a friend can hook me up with one doesn't hurt either.

Hope it's what you're after when it arrives, and welcome to the Takemine club.

Thanks man. My friend lives about 15 mins drive from my house, so I will drive over in the next few days and complete the trade. I'll be sure to post pics of it, and of my ''gig rig'' when I have all the pieces.
