Best Beginner Metal Amp + Guitar Combo

Re: Best Beginner Metal Amp + Guitar Combo

For the guitar - whatever you find inspirational. Whoever you dig, whoever your hero is, whatever is in the ballpark of that. As for the Floyd, while I agree that it's a hassle for newbs, if you dig little Stevie Vai, get a floyd. You''ll uickly be disappointed/frustrated without (same for Mr. Val Hallen).

Amp - can't beat a basic modeller. I'll say 30 watt range with headphones. Enough engine to make some noize, yet quiet enough while till sounding good. Play models until you have enough chops to decide what tone you really dig.

I started out with a low-end Schecter and a Roland Cube. I have other much nicer guitars now but kept the Schecter because it really feels and plays nice. I still sue the Cube to practice with as well. It has a quiet play mode that makes it sound decent even at very low volume, or you can use headphones and emit zero sound out of the speaker. Another nice thing about the Cube is that it models multiple amps, from Brit chimey to heavy metal stack. On clean, it excels at Jazz. The best dirty sound on it is the heavy metal stack.
