In a mahogany body set/glued neck guitar (maple cap or not), It's tough to beat a SH-5 Custom in the bridge, and a 59 in the neck for hard rock. If ya wanted more clarity a Jazz in the neck would be good too.
The Alnico in the SH-10 really evens out the Super crunchy tone from the SH-13. When you split the pickups, it give this really cool twang-type of tone that almost sounds like a strat.
I've yet to try a XL-500, but until I do this is the set for me.
