best delay pedal out there

Re: best delay pedal out there

I really like the versatility of the Line 6 DL4. I have had mine for years and couldn't imagine parting ways with it. It has some really good sounds and it very tweakable!

+1

The DL4 is a definite talent enhancer too!

Re: best delay pedal out there

The DL4 is really popular with professional players. I like the Boss DD-20. It has a bunch of different modes, and it can be used for looping effects. It works really well with my DJ setup also.

Re: best delay pedal out there

For me . . .

. . . due to a lack of funds they are in this order :

#1 ) Ibanez DE7

#2 ) EHX DMM

#3 ) Carl Martin Delayla XL

For me, there are no other delays !
If i have thoose three, i'll die a happy man !

Re: best delay pedal out there

I already have 2 kick@$$ delay pedals, and I still want to get my hands on a DE7 for some reason.

Re: best delay pedal out there

For me personally, I like my Boss DD-2 from the early 80's. That sucker has taken a massive beating and still works perfectly. If I had to replace it, I'd look for another one off eBay or just get a DD-3. I don't have very high delay demands so simple is better for me.

Re: best delay pedal out there

I have a Rocktron Short Timer on the way! I can't wait much longer!

Nyah, nyah... I have two.

The Short Timer can only be considered "best" if budget is on the list of requirements, but in this case it isn't.

Your mention of "craziest sounds" reminded me of ages-old reviews I read of the Akai Headrush. A quick check on eBay reveals that they make a new version of this pedal.

another +1 to the DL4- can clone pretty much any delay, plus get some weird spaceship sounds as well. Any pedal that does that gets my vote.

Re: best delay pedal out there

I've got an old Washburn Analog Delay that's done me good for the past 15 years or so. I picked up a minty Boss DM-2 to spell it, but it's strictly backup.

Oh yeah?! Well I finnally got my rebate check so I might just go out and buy two more. Then I would have 3! Yeah I'm not going to do that. You win. :amish:

I won't leave home without it! Tried the DL4 last year but it just didn't have "'the" sound to replace my DD3.

It is a onehead delay, manual time and taptempo switch able, loop in the feedback for modulation, longer than one second delay, tonecontrol, same box as the XL.
I stuck a phaser in the loop on this clip by the way.
