Hi guys what are your favorite duncan combos?
I nly have experience with a hotrial in the bridge haha but im planning on hopefully going for a jb/59 combo in my next guitar

well guys what are they? ( I would have a poll for this but there are endless combinations so why bother)

BTW just for the sake of argument what would be betere a jb/59 or a jb/jazz?

well lets hear em guys.

Re: Best Duncan Combo

hmm, well for me so far the jb/jazz and dd/a2ph works for me.
but i still prefer my jb/paf pro over these

Re: Best Duncan Combo

For me it'd be a Full Shred/'59 combo

I'd go with the JB/'59 myself but that's me and my bias

Re: Best Duncan Combo

I love Jazz's sound!! I'd go with JB-Jazz, have this combo on Gibson myslef and it's outstanding.. No reason to change the best sounding formula:D

Re: Best Duncan Combo

My first and only set so far, PGn clean, dirty or coiltapped it just sounds God-like to me. The Blues Trembucker in the bridge has a nice open PAF tone to it that I love, they also sound great together in the middle position. I definitely have to try some more Duncans!

Re: Best Duncan Combo

I was never able to get the deep bass or balance I wanted from a JB so I am currently loving the C-5....but have yet to settle on a neck mate. I thought I'd miss the harmonics, but I get harmonics in buckets with the C-5. :13:

Re: Best Duncan Combo

Man, those are all excellent choices, most of the posts here consider all good choices and someone corrects you if you think a pickup is going to sound different than it really is from their experience. Basically It's what you decide (neither or the JB/jazz, JB/59, or JB/PG are incompatible or horrible sounding, just candy to some ears and not to others) so no matter what you get should be good, but get what you like you have the ultimate return policy too :D

Re: Best Duncan Combo

I have a custom Tele THinline with a jazz(neck) and 59(bridge) I have push pull coil tapping as well. I love this combination. Makes the thinline sound a lot like a 335 (with both coils) and a lot like a Tele when tapped, but not as bright!! great combo. This guitar is made from Mahogony, but has a beautiful flame maple top!! :laugh2:

Re: Best Duncan Combo

a pg set really work well for me no matter what im playing

Re: Best Duncan Combo

The JB/'59 isn't really working out for me. But I play high gain punkrock/hardcore, a style that requiers the neck pickup a little hotter. I guess the most popular combo's that have proven to work with many players are the JB/Jazz and Custom/'59.
I'd be really interested to see someone using combo's like JB/Jazzb, Custom/'59b or JB/SD.

Re: Best Duncan Combo

My fav is the C5/Jazz combo, followed by my bandmates Custom/59 setup (Nightburst - that combo's great for classic to heavy rock. Nice cleans and a full-on crunch and lead tone from the bridge. My bandmate squeals like Zakk Wylde like nothing on that combo).

Re: Best Duncan Combo

1. C-5/PG
2. JB/Jazz
3. Distortion/59

depends on what songs im playing...They all have their advantages.

Re: Best Duncan Combo

I'm about to buy a new guitar and I will load it with the Custom(bridge)/FS(neck). But if I must choose one of these two I'd go with the JB/Jazz.
