Best Duncan HB to match Fender single coil pickups?

Re: Best Duncan HB to match Fender single coil pickups?

i support the PG or PG+ and in ref to the post above...i would 100% rewire the strat with a dedicated bridge tone pot of 300 or 500k so you can dial in the bucker accordingly

raising the pickups closer to the strings can cause some sustain loss but not enough for me to notice. the closer the pickup the more sensitive i find it to be so i'd say it nullifies the slight loss of sustain.

After checking various manufacturer specs, most say to set the pickups to 2/32" max from the strings. Have you ever gotten closer?

I played for a while tonight and I don't think I have the heart to change anything yet, LOL. The Diamondback and Fat 50s were all sounding spectacular tonight. :)

yes, i'd also consider no-load tone pots. i actually remove or disable tone pots all together.

back in the day i used to adjust the pickups as close to the strings as possible without having the strings hit the pickups with hard strumming. now i adjust for the desired tone.

esandes, I talked with my tech yesterday. He said he loves the Custom Custom in a strat style guitar, he said it is by far the best he has found for a strat. I may try. He also recommended the JB for my mahogany Tele and the 59/Custom for my new LP Deluxe. :)

I just ordered a Pearly Gates Trembucker in black. I am going to start with my stock 250K pots but I may move the neck tone to connect to the Pearl Gates, and I won't rule out a 500K volume pot.

If I remove the Fender Fat 50s for Duncan noiseless, would you suggest the Classic Stack? The EQ of the Classic Stack seems to match the Pearly Gates the best, hence, would work with the 250K pots well. However, the Fat 50s sound very good. :)

Knowing me, I won't notice much difference and will end up back stock again. LOL.
