Best effect unit with no clout?

I had a Joyo Suhr Riot clone that was decent.

I have a TC El Mocambo which is as good as my TS808 too. I never head people talking about that TS clone.

The Ultimate Drive from Joyo
they do sound great
My SS Laney didnt like it so much

But all my tube amps think its the thing

I see lots of love for old Digitech gear . My days of G.A.S.ing ended with the birth of my kids (9 and15), bills and the pursuit of home ownership .
But before then, I zeroed in on my ideal tone with my Digitech RP-12, RP-1 and 2112 SGS .
When it comes to doing recreations of my favorite distortions, overdrives and fuzz pedals, I use an A/B box with my set up and a pedalboard of my favorite dirt pedals.
Lots of going back and forward, but we'll worth the head ache
Funny, with a Kemper, you just hit the "capture" button and wait.
I just gain stack from one multi effects unit into another multi effects unit and from my 2112 with two 12ax7 tubes.
I have endless combinations this way .

I have a Space Station in my Digitech EX7 it is cool but it doesn't give me anything I can't get better with the H9/90.

To answer the OP's question of course it is my Decibel 11 Dirt Clod. A very underrated and unrecognized pedal. If the right guitarist was seen stepping on one they would go for 4x the money

I own a Decibel Eleven Loop Expander which is ever bit as good as the RJM Mini Effects Gizmo and a Decibel Eleven Hot Stone Deluxe, which in my opinion raised the standard for pedal power supplies in 2014 .

Decible Eleven sold the brand to another company, not so sure, they could have sold it off to Hush / Rocktron.

I have a plastic little Danelectro Surf & Turf Compressor that works amazingly well.

I was going to mention my Vox StompLab 1G, (which I love), but you reminded me of my Dano Fab Tone. NOT plastic. Built like a tank. This thing weighs as much as a Tele.

Mad Professor Stone Grey Distortion for me (if there's any clout/cult following for it then I am not aware.) I've gone through more distortion pedals than I care to admit and this one that has stuck with me for years. Very articulate even with the Distortion turned all the way up. Has sounded good through every amp I've played it through.

One of my recent favorites, since Christmas really, is the Joyo Vintage Overdrive. It's a TS808 clone and a dang good one at that. $39 on Amazon. I have several other more expensive overdrives and this one hangs with them no problem. This is my second Joyo pedal and I really like what they have.

It’s not fair for you to keep mentioning that Digitech, VHt, PB rig and not show us any clips to sate my curiosity. I cannot get any modeler to sound good through the front, even with the internal cabsim bypassed. I bypass the preamp completely so I gotta know your secret! Before I die, please??

I was looking at buying one of these but apparently JHS did a video of them in 2020 and the price has gone up a little

Was hanging with the Frank Falbo. He has one of the larger next gen plastic box versions. Says it is the same circuit. Those are usually cheaper. That said - it was worth $100 or so as dirt boxes go IMO.

What is your favorite distortion pedal that has no clout, no mojo, and no cult following? I for one really like the DN-2 Dynadrive. It's like a more even sounding DS-1 that expands your dynamic range on terms of controlling how much distortion you get, but it also conpresses your signal volumewise. So you can clean up your signal with the volume on your guitar without disappearing behind the other instruments. I think people didn't like them because they were digital.

I don't use distortion pedals, if I can't get the tone I want out of the amp alone then I sell it. That being said, the one pedal that made me almost change my tune was actually my bud's DN2, that thing sounds freaking amazing.
