Best free amp VST? Looking for alternatives to Amplitube (no money)

Re: Best free amp VST? Looking for alternatives to Amplitube (no money)

First question is, what computer platform are you using?

Most current DAW recording software includes amplifier modelling.

If you have Garageband for iOS, which revision is it? There should be a small selection of guitar and bass amp model presets built in to that. You just need to obtain an appropriate audio input device.

If you're working on iOS then the basic free Amplitude is pretty good and works with Garageband.

I felt that Garageband's amps were better for clean/barely broken up tones. Amplitude offers some cool gain sounds.

All of the apps I'm aware of offer a small/medium selection and then have in-app purchases for more options.

This.

Apple Garageband for iOS is just a taster to get people sufficiently hooked to desire Apple Logic Pro and, needless to say, an Apple computer to host it.

It is possible to make professional sounding recordings in GB. It just happens to be quicker and easier to do it in Logic.

A little platypus tells me that Nathan's desktop PC uses DDR2 RAM sticks. This should provide some indication of compatible 32-bit amp/pedal simulation software.

Moving to Tips & Clips... recording/computer tech stuff happily resides there.

If you want free, there's some good ones out there, but you'll have to dig for them.

A lot of good stuff for Windows, especially 32 bit.

Check out KVR, Bedroom Producer's Blog, and Rekkerd.
