One of the things you have to consider is the wiring for a HSS setup. The single coils need 250k pots, and most humbuckers need 500k. I love the Dimarzio Virtual Hot Paf in my strat, and it sounds great with the same 250k pots as the singles.

I like the compromise of having a 500k volume w/ 2 250k tones for the neck and middle singles, nice bright sound without it being harsh in the upper registers

PATB-3 is your best bet!
Believe me ,Odie and Doc!The PATB line is the "best" in passive humbucking on this market ,and the PATB-3 delivers what you described!Go and get one!You will never look back!(sorry ,maybe to a PATB-1 or crazy 8 )
