Best guitar for a Full Shred set

Re: Best guitar for a Full Shred set

Lower-k pots cut more treble; IIRC, it's got something to do with there being less resistance between the hot and ground. The FS set doesn't seem that bright to me, but I've never played one in a Les Paul (or anything with any amount of maple).

Err, obligatory reference to Opeth's album, Damnation.

Re: Best guitar for a Full Shred set

How well would a full shred set work in a les paul and an alder jackson?

I would think it they would be too bright and thin in an Alder guitar. I really like'em in a basswood guitar with an EQ in the loop of my amp to boost the low mids...but LOVE them in a mahogony guitar!! Total sonic bliss!! And I've been using FS for years...

IMO, I have used the FS in may different guitars and have always had good results. IMO, it is not very guitar picky.

Re: Best guitar for a Full Shred set

Since the FS is sometimes critized for being bright and sterile (which I disagree with), a guitar with lots of resonance would help with that. That would probably mean a lighter, softer, warmer sounding wood. ;)
