Re: Best guitar players youve never heard of
I agree with just about all of the players here. I would also add that there are some forum members here that are worthy of notice as well.
1. Robert Sherman - He has such a fantastic vibe when it comes to Classic Rock and Power Blues. He's really enjoyable to listen to.
2. John Jolly - I could sit and listen to him to old Van Halen and stuff like that all day long. He did an instrumental version of Blackfoot's "Train Train" that just wreaked of cool playing and tone.
3. Stevo - If you need a sample of a pickup in a certain guitar, no, I don't mean the generic (but helpful) samples on the Duncan site, I mean you want to hear a CC i a Les Paul through a cranked Marshall... Stevo's the guy and the chops are great as well as the overall vibe.
4. Kevlar1000 - Absolute FUNKIDELIC. This guy's music has such a smokin' groove to it that a quadrapelegic (sp.) would groove to it...
5. Don Mare, aka Rev Donzo - This guy is Roy Buchanan reincarnated. an opinionated player with very dep insights into all subects tone as well as being the Custom Shop mgr at Lace pickups, the guy is a Seymour Duncan nut.
Jeff Miller - Well, actually I have a pat with Jeff. I'm not proud of it but he and I have a nice relationship now. I even helped him get into his current band. Jeff is an 80's Metal guy turned Brent Mason... His playing is tight, well thought-out, and inventive. He is also a really accomplished tinkerer. He's the first guy, on record, to successfully remove the guts from a Line 6 Variax and transplant them into a custom Telecaster with success.
I'm sure there are many more here that I'm missing but for now, that's all I have.
Cheers,
