Re: Best Hum Cancelling Single Coil Sized Bridge Pickup(Specific Enough?)
If you want just a regular strat bridge tone, then I'd try the virtual vintage serie from DMZ ... which one? Well, that's up to you as all the side by sides, and stacks don't really deliver a true enough single coil tone, the HS-3 is a good old standby, ...*if* it's bright enough for you, and *if* it's got enough juice for you (it's not a hot pup at all ). Their cruiser might work well for you, never used it myself, so I couldn't say ... if you're looking for something a bit tougher sounding, I was kinda thinking along the lines of the JB jr., just because of the harmonics ... or for a bit warmer and mellower the lil '59.
I kinda lean toward the V.V. series by DMZ on this one, or for low gain the HS series (although they don't have as truer a single coil tone), their fast track series is even a bit further from true single coil tone ...although the cruiser has gotten some good acceptance, a classic or hot stack by SD would fit the bill nicely as well, although I don't know if the hot stack would be glassy enough for your needs. If your covering *humbucker bridge pup territory*, then probably the SD JB jr., or lil '59; DMZ Chopper or Pro Track ... tough call, really it depends on how loud you need it, and how much you want it to sound like a single coil vs. a humbucker. Not much help, but maybe it will give you a set of parameters to mull over.
