I was just going to say that. Everybody that recommended DiMarzios were talking about the Virtual Vintage series and not the Area series. Then I looked at the dates. LOL

A stacked humbucker may also be a good idea...

I only have experience with Cool Rails, and they were just too bright for me (in a guitar I already got too much treble from).

If by "stacked humbucker" you mean, well, a stack, they are designed to sound like single coils, and so would be even brighter than a cool rails, like, well, a single coil.

Would do the trick of fixing that without changing the overall character of the guitar.
