What is the best live tone you have ever heard RECORDED?
For me its a toss up between Eric Clapton's "Crossroad" live and Hendrix with "Machine Gun" live on Band of Gypsys.

Re: Best live tone ever recorded?

I'm pretty partial to Iron Maiden's "Live After Death". I love the way the guitars are totally seperated on that.

I like Jimi's Hear My Train a coming off of the old Concerts album. Just a huge sound. I have also seen some Leslie West stuff on youtube that has blown me away.

Somewhere between Cream's Crossroads and the Who's Live at Leeds album.

Not thinking too hard aboot it... Accept's- 'Staying A Life'. Sounds just like their records only live in Japan. Robust, meaty, clear, and loud!
