I have decided to look for the best clean sound from my neck pickup alone. so far i have considered PG and AII pro. i have tried the jazz already, and currently have a 59/a5 and have tried that with a2. i am still not quite satisfied. i have a JB that i thought about using in the neck split.

Well the PG and the AII pro have that vintage bluesy sound.
You could go with using a 57 or a BB Pro, but both of 'em cost more than $100.
People say that using an EMG 60 on the neck has a great clean sound. Yea actives r supposedly good for cleans.
And you could also go with Dimarzio's 'Bucker from Hell. It's $70 bucks.

It is all up to you

I don't care much for the Burstbucker Pro pickups in the bridge position, but in the neck they are very, very smooth....

Get an A4 magnet in that '59 and adjust a bit the EQ of your amp.

Problem solved!

The DMz Bluesbucker is very good in a LP neck.

You should be checking out used PU's online, as they usually go for about half price.

AII pro is certainly my favorite. Clean but not at all anemic in the soulful mids (which is how I feel about the Jazz-n).

The A4 helps a lot: smoothes out a boomy low E strings and pushes the mids a little bit. The best sides of an A5 and a A2.
Btw: i recently tried some degaussed A5. These shave off the excessing higs of the full A5, but leaves the boomy bass untouched. I made it even worse in the neck

Very interesting, thanks!

To my ears, the PG neck in a LP is wrong. I don't like the sizzle and it fills in some bottom that the guitar already filled, leading to a weird low-mid push that I don't like and that can become mud central under the wrong conditions.

The APH1n can be lame. The APH1b is a great cutter in a LP's bridge but you wouldn't know it from the neck pickup.

The best one is the Antiquity, which has some extra sparkle and isn't boomy. Just shiny.
