Best metal bass?

Re: Best metal bass?

Mina thing, as with any instrument, is to get something that feels comfortable.
If you're going to be playing fast bass lines there's no point getting something you can barely get ya hands round as it'll be cramping up before the end of the first song.

That's a good point. The Peavey's a kunckle cracker and tendon stretcher for the first few days.

Re: Best metal bass?

Black metal bands use BASS? Not the ones I've been listening to! :)
Seriously, if it's just the looks you're after, a BC Rich would be cool.

Re: Best metal bass?

^^

I wonder about the same thing with some metal bands. Even if you really can't hear the bass it does make a difference. If you take out the bass from this song, you'll see how empty it sounds.

example:

metal song with bass

Without bass

Thanks ALL FOR YOUR OPINIONS!! (sorry, caps key locked )

Well I'm not just after 'looks'.. in fact I went for the 'looks' of a BC Rich Beast guitar - neck-through, ebony fingerboard.. the works-, and since I don't play in a band and only record my stuff, always sitting down, the guitar´s edges give me nasty bruises on my thighs. This of course makes it very difficult to play for hours at a time. I'm actually scared it might give me some permanent scarring or something :headbang:

My idea was 4-string and budget is not a problem. I do prefer sound quality, over anything else!

Re: Best metal bass?

Well, since you already have your eyes on a schecter....

This one looks better, IMO:

Schecter Bass

I'd personally would go for a bass with at least 5 strings.

Re: Best metal bass?

Thanks for the input :yourock:

Well I was thinking more of a bass for black metal, so Gibson or Ibanez would not be my first choices, I think.
I got my eye on a Dean Dimebag Razorback and fell in love with the looks, but I will favor comfort before anytime and this bass seems to have some soapbar pups that appear to be passive (please correct me if I'm wrong) -- btw what is the deal with all those different kinds of bass pups??? :eek5: I really don't understand the difference between the different pup sizes (on 4-string basses)

I am now torn between an ESP LTD F-154DX and a Schecter Damien
Any advice with these or other basses I really would appreciate a lot

.

no problem, but i sitll think that a thunderbird or an iceman bass would do it. the iceman bass is pretty fricken metal if you ask me, and its got a smaller/thinner neck for the fast stuff
