Custom and Screamin demon.
i like the PAF 'tude that they bring. being balanced in the eq helps alot too, i dont like too much of a specific part of the eq spectrum in my sound. balanced is the way to be, and this is what i get with the Custom and Demon.

sorry to bust your bubble, but just buy one. the worst thing that can happen is you wont like it and even then you can exchange it for something else. just buy something, sorry man :blackeye:

Full Shred for me. Why? I've never heard another pickup that crunches and chugs like the Full Shred. Tight, defined and chunky. It gets even better in a set neck or neck-through guitar!
The Custom's not bad either. I've had mixed luck with it. Had a TB-5 in one guitar where it didn't work so well. That was my Robin Medley with ash body, maple bolt on neck, rosewood board. I couldn't get pinch harmonics to happen, and for metal you definitely gotta have pinch harmonics! However, I put a Custom in my Hamer Studio and I swear it sounds like the rhythm tones on early Iron Maiden albums.
I don't have a Screamin Demon, but I've got one guitar that has a Li'l Screamin Demon. It's got a great singing, sustaining lead voice, and plenty of crunch on power chords.
There are a variety of metal guitar sounds. Are you going for a tight, chunky 80's metal tone or a loose, swampy Godsmack/Staind/modern metal tone? Or something else?
