Best Neck Pickup to Pair With 59/Custom

As the title reads, I've decided to drop a 59/Custom in one of my Les Pauls. Anyone have any ideas for a good pairing neck pickup? I play over driven blues/rock. Thanks in advance!

The go-to pickup would be a under or lightly above 8k A5 pickup like jazz neck, 59 neck, Sentinent or WLH neck. It depends on the guitar. I recommend the Jazz, as clear and medium gain with the ability to take a lot of drive.

I love my APH-1 with the Hybrid. You get buttery solo tones and warm clean rhythms when you want it. Those 2 really go well together.

It should be adjective, but a 59n (better with a A4 magnet in it) is one of the best neck pickup for a Les Paul and a really good companion for a 59/custom hybrid.

I have mine paired with a WLHn, no complains. They work great together.

I've used a Jazz bridge in the neck with a 59/Custom in the bridge of my SG Re-issue. Killer. The Jazz bridge is just a tad hotter than the Jazz neck, but still has that great quality about it described above.
A 59/Jazz Hybrid sounds like a really great idea too. An A4 mag could be a great idea for smoothing the EQ, taming possible high end shrillness if that's a problem. But the 59 is one p'up I still haven't tried.

All great suggestions so far!

I will play the wildcard and recommend a StagMag Sh-3 wired in parallel for a tone with a little bit more strat DNA in it which should sound great for a driven blues tone and offer a unique neck pickup tone in a les paul

As you've seen from all the answers, it's all a matter of taste. The C/59 H is a great bridge pickup, so any good neck pickup will go fine with it. Just figure out your favorite neck pickup. By default, I used to buy 59n, but over time I realized the PGn, Seth n, WLHn are my favorites. I'd probably consider the C/59 and WLH to be a great rock'n'blues set.

Re: Best Neck Pickup to Pair With 59/Custom

Any pickup could go well, depending on what YOU want and how you will use it!

Obvious answer is obvious: 59n

But in that line, a Seth, a PG, a Whole Lotta would all be similar

The jazz is cool - matches the brighter aspects, modern sounding. The A2P is a contrast. Fatter, thicker, more mid. You'd get a really interesting both on sound with that.

But if you o for aggressive metal neck rhythm tones...why not a Distortion Neck? Or do you shred the upper frets and need a lot of clarity? Full Shred.

Whatcha tryin' to do????

SG - Jazz and 59/Custom
LP - WLH and 59/Custom

Both are good, just depend on what I'm going for.

59/Jazz Neck Hybrid is amazing... Duncan needs to market it!

Well... there's a p'up called the Sentient, which verbatim states that's that. I haven't had one in my hands yet (it's not a stock p'up in my neck of woods), so i wouldn't know if the products description is any close to the actual p'up's performance.

^It says it is 'inbetween'....not that it is one coil of both.

There is a difference.

Not the most helpful answer, but my favorite to so far with a custom/59 is the old Dimarzio Virtual PAF neck. They make a superb pair.

Actually there can be some problems with a 59 in the neck of some LPs. Yes the A4 can help.

The Demon has been my favorite neck pup for years. Recently the Jazz has been gradually replacing it. Both are great and work quite well with the C/59 hybrid.
