Best neck single coil to match to a hybrid or C8

I am fortunate to have two Gibson SG-90 Doubles from the late 80's, one with a stock factory floyd and a maple/ebony neck and the other with a string thru tailpiece arrangement and a mahogany/ebony neck; these are notable for their 25.5" two-octave board and come configured with a HB in the bridge position and a single coil in the neck.

The one with the floyd now has a Custom Shop double-row screw Hybrid that is very nice but needs a matching single coil, preferably balanced in output and on the cleaner/warmer side to compliment; the other with a mahogany/ebony neck has a Custom Shop double-row screw C8 and would also benefit from a new neck single coil.

I play the jazzier side of fusion but want the versatility to play funk, rock, blues and modern/60's - 80's jazz -- any recommendations would be gratefully considered:)

I'll help since no one else will :).

Those SGs are damn cool. Never seen one with a Floyd, just the Steinberger designed trem.

I like the V90 double as well from the same period.

The following is for true single coils.

For the one with the hybrid - if you want warmth, APS2 might be the ticket. SSL2 is also nice, but has more brilliance and treble because of A5 poles - classic Strat sound. There's also the SSL52, which has A5 poles for bass strings, and A2 for treble, so you get the combination of tight/brilliant bass and warm highs. A couple of people here have this one and have praised it.

For the one with the C8, you want something to keep up with a hotter pup - SSL6 perhaps, or SSL3, which is a step up from the 6.

That's a great place to start -- thanks for your kind thoughtful suggestions and appreciation for the 90's series!!!

To quote another forum member (cause I like the rime ;) )

If you can splash the cash: ask MJ to wind you 2 strabro90 pickups. Hot enough to do thay fat lead if you so desire but sparkly and clear enough for jazzy fusiony stuff.

Otherwise... ssl3?
