Re: best neck wood

my fav has def become maple, i used to hate how it felt but liked how it sounded.. so i ended up buying my first strat in rosewood which i'm killing myself over cuz i love that strat but im now realizing im a maple board person :banghead: i just don't like heavy laquered maple boards but then i discovered you don't really need to have a heavy laquered maple board, just oiled works great.. i love my charvel neck and if i could i switch it over to my strat but unfortunately it wont work 'cuz of the neck pocket size difference...

Re: best neck wood

ye, on a strat mine is defently lightly laquered maple. really smooth, nice and bright tone, best choice for a strat, i really hate over laquered wood, tents to get sticky and resrictive if un polished! maybe something a little darker on a tele?! on a les paul i hate the look of maple fretboards, dont really know enough about the sound difference on a gibson with a maple neck to comment though, anyone got a gibson with a maple or other light wood finger board?
