If you were going to buy a new 2x12 master volume combo amp for blues tones, what would you get and why?

I think I'm leaning towards the Hot Rod mainly because of the 6L6 tubes. EL84's are sometimes too "chimey" for my liking, and I've heard that 6V6's can be "nasally".

Best,
V

For a Modern vintage amp I like the Hot Rod. It has a FX loop and some
of the best cleans I've heard.

um, for blues, a non-master volume amp is the way to go. Check out the mesa lonestar special, the fender custom vibrolux reverb or deluxe reissue, the Marshall bluesbreaker, or a s/h mesa blue angel.

the blue Angel is a cool little unit, in that you can switch between 6v6 or el84 tubes as you play, and even combine them. So you get a nice low wattage, deluxe kind of tone, and a nice voxy tone as well.

Out of the group you mentioned, I'm not much of a fan of the carvin, and the fender hot rods aren't my cup of tea (still a perfectly good amp, though). Apart from that, all very nice amps. Try 'em all if you can.

Doh! The clubster apparently only comes in a 1x12. Still, I'd consider it and get an ext cab.
