Best pedals for clean boost?

Re: Best pedals for clean boost?

For years, I've used a Boss GE-7 EQ. I run it with a bit of overall boost, plus a big mid hump. I like the way it overdrives the input stage of Marshalls, and I get to tweak the EQ, unlike a straight booster.

Of course, this only works if you like the sound of your amp's input stage when it's getting slammed, so YMMV.

I've never noticed that it's unusually noisy, but I automatically switch it off when I'm not playing.

+1

The Boss GE-7 is a great clean boost. I've been using it for a few years now (into Marshalls) with great results.

I'm currently falling in love with a Carl Martin PlexiTone, and that has an excellent clean boost alongside two of the best overdrives I've ever heard.

Re: Best pedals for clean boost?

Thanks guys, I'm waiting on my Arion Tubulator, and I know that I also want an EQ too, to give me more control of the voicing of my lead tone. The fanboy in me says to get the blue 6 band MXR EQ, like Dimebag, but I'm quite partial to Boss pedals...and lately, I've been discovering the hard way that what works for my favorite guitarists, hasn't been working for me...
