I am upgrading the pickups on my Squier Vintage modified SSH (which is really an HHH) as both stock singles are stacked.
I upgraded the middle pickup with an SSL-5 I had and now I want to upgrade the mini and bridge pickups to "work well" with that ssl-5. One of the seymour mini's is a no brainer but I am stuck on the bridge. I love the sound that Vince Gill gets out of his bridge pickup when he solo's on "Don't Try This At Home" with the Players - nothing but bite and its not too shrill either. This video at 2:50, he kills it:

I am not sure if a vintage style bridge pickup with hold up against the SSL-5's 13K DCR for balance across positions - bridge should kick in hotter. I am considering the Quarter Pounder but I don't know if that has enough bite - certainly enough output and grind. Maybe the QP with a base plate?
Any thoughts would be appreciated on a good bridge pickup with plenty of output and bite, but not ice pick.
