Best Place for Bulk Strings?

Hey Guys,

Of all the things i tweak constantly, i just see no need to really change around strings. Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies do it for me just fine price and longevity considered and i'm cool ordering a bulk set. It looks like MF has a 3 pack for 12 bucks - but i figure with all of this internet there has got to be somewhere that sells packs of 10, 12, more for a better price.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

GL

Try checking out juststrings.com. Their regular price, it appears, beats MF's 3 pack deal. They also have their own private label strings in bulk.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

In the past I have bought EB Slinky's in either 10 pack or 12 pack boxes. I can't honestly remember where I got them, but they do sell them that way.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

I haven't tried their house brand. They say they're made for them by one of the major manufacturers (of which they also sell a lot of under the maker's brand name). It looks like you have to order a dozen of each gauge, but at their price it may be worth a gamble.
I buy Thomastik-infeld strings from them, which are pretty pricey, but worth it to me.

Great, thanks! Have you tried their house brand? How are they?

I've used the juststrings house brand a number of times over the years. They've always been fine. They sound good, and are consistent in quality.

They process orders very quickly too.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

I know people have good things to say about Webstrings, but I'm staying away from them from now on. Out of five sets I bought from them, all five failed me. The windings unraveled, and the ball ends actually fell off!

The only other strings I've ever had this happen with, were the $1.99 Musicians Gear, from Musicians Friend, that I tried for ****s and giggles.

I'm sticking with Ernie Balls.

Thanks for the heads up whatsisname. Yeah, because neither of those are more than a few cents a pack cheaper than the eb's, I'll be sticking there. Maybe as much as I hate to admit, MF is the way to go.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

i've bought bulk packs of ernie balls and daddarios from your friendly neighbourhood ebay. far cheaper than getting the odd pack from the local guitar shop each time you need em, and no worries about breaking a string and not being able to replace it until you can get into town next.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

Webstrings has been really great for me. Wouldn't bother buying d'addario anymore, especially since the cdn dollar's so high right now.

Re: Best Place for Bulk Strings?

Great, Thanks guys. Really great suggestions. If i get a chance to try a pack of Webstrings first i may turn to them eventually. Looks like i've discovered EB's in a 12 pack for right around 3.32 a pack, or DR Pure Blues at 3.99.

Am i gonna dig the Pure blues? Should i go halvsies, 6 EB's and 6 Drs?

Carvin. They are rebadged GHS boomers I am told. $20 for 10 sets on ebay.

I have some from webstrings and won't be buying them again. They sound fine for about 2 weeks then they seem to quickly lose their sustain. I do try and change my strings about every month depending on which guitar I play but for the savings I got, it wasn't worth it. I was very happy at first but now, I can only say that the mandolin strings last as long as the other brands.

im a big fan of dr pure blues. i was having issues with them for a while and went on walkabout trying to find something i liked as much or more. i found snake oil brand strings and really like their original nickel formula and their 101 acoustic sets. not cheap though and i have too many guitars.

the last dozen sets ive gotten of the dr's have been fine so ill be sticking with them
