Best PUP for accentuating Low Mids

What pickup from SD (A2 or A5) has more low mids? I would guess the CC. What would you choose? Personally I think an A3 helps accentuate the low mids.

I'm afraid that i could not find a medium-high output duncan that could satisfly me in terms of low mids content...... :yell: :yell:

I can hear low mids in the Screamin Demon. I can also hear low mids in the Dimarzio D-Sonic....two very different sounding pickups though.

Have you tried the invader?

The A3 does have more low-mid response than Alnico 2, relatively speaking. A3 has slightly less output but a slight low-mid bulge. You might like an Alnico 4 even better.

No it's the only one i haven't tried (from the med-high output pickups) but i'm not enthusiastic about installing THAT thing with THOSE big screws on any of my guitars .... :) :) :) :)

Some people have successfully removed the hex screws and replaced them to give the invader a much more 'normal' look, there was a thread in here on it a while ago, if i remember correctly it also made a slight different to the sound.

The invader is definately a distinctive looking pickup though, which does mean it definately won't suit every guitar.

Maybe I'll make a C3 or C4 and put a 250k tone pot. I'm sure that'll boost some low mids! Thanks for the feedback guys.

My CC the I made from a C-5 has alot of mids, and a slight roll off of the lows and highs. Great pickup in a strat with 250K pots.

Just curious, what guitar/amp set up are you useing?

I run into a Mesa Boogie Triaxis preamp and then into a THD Univalve for poweramp saturation (a bright amp). Just curious about the low mids because sometimes I have to scoop the upper mid range spike in some pups with a parametric eq and I prefer a lower mid range throaty sax-like tone.

SH5 Custom rules the low mids roost in the Duncan line from my experience....but she's ceramic.
