BEST PUPs thru a BOGNER SHIVA

So far my fave amp as far as tone - on this planet - THUS far (emphasized)

BOGNER SHIVA

Best pickups with a Paula or Paula style with this AMAZING AMP

have been the CC, C5, and APH1.
I also liked the Burstbucker 2's thru there!

I found the 59 sterile thru it (but hey I have never been huge on the 59 - no secret here). I did not like the VPAFs thru it, just not enough rude bark or slammin' sound. Too smooth almost.

The APH1 is always the APH1, no arguments. I would like to have tried a PG thru it. The C5 sounded nice, mids were smooth, and it sounded huge, the BASS was nice!

I have played Diezels and Soldanos a bit lately, but I don't count them bc they are so saturated, sometimes the pickups don't matter nearly as much.

Any thoughts?

Okay, I play an American Deluxe Fat strat. It sports a hand wound PAF in the bridge and two samarian cobalt single coils in the neck & middle. I use the head with a bogner 4X12 straight cab loaded with Celestion G12H hand made Heritage speakers. That's my signal chain. I may use a wah, fuzz face, univibe, memory man, chorus, or a compresser now and then. This combination of high quality components really make my sound come to life.
The clean channel is a straigh-up Fender. It's simply gorgeous. It breathes air into a room. It sparkles, shines, glistens, twangs, stings and sings! It owns rock, jazz, country, and takes pedals for days. It's so warm, and the speakers really bring it to life. With the reverb it sounds Iike my twin. This is a beautiful clean channel, very easy to use.
The distortion channel is my kind of channel. It's very open and dynamic with minimal compression for a dynamic feel. My set up gets the Hendix, Page, & Halen sounds almost on the nail. What l like about it is that it has something unique about it. l can sound like me. No fuzzy buzzy distortion sounds. It can be smooth as silk, liquid-like, crunchy, thick, bold, and three dimensional. It retains definition on high gain settings. Pretty much all eq settings are extremeley usable. The bass is tight and never flubby. I don't know much about voicing, but something in the mids really lets this thing cut through walls. My TSL would always sound so flat and fizzy, my Bogner sounds clear and full bodied. The boost just makes it fatter and fuller. This channel has a lot of character. It took a little getting used to, because the amp gave me more expressive freedom than l was used to. This amp and speaker combo along with my pickups give my sound lots of detail, but it takes some skilled hands to work them. l can hold my own, but the amp doesn't cover anything up; my technique is not where l want it to be. All in all the distortion channel lets me find my voice.
The sound of my amp is perfect. It does light gain sounds for blues, and Steve Howe type stuff. It does kick ass classic overdrive sounds that freakin' rock like all the classics! I never need to turn the gain past 2o'clock, but it can get pretty saturated. I don't need too much gain, but it's there if you need to get heavier.
This is definitely the amp to check out if you're into a mix of classic sounds with some modern capability.

I have a Mojave 4x12 G12H30 cab. When cranked, I don't think anything is as woody, warm, classic and bad a$$

What I've found from using my Ecstasy for 4 years is that any pickups sound good through it. Just get a Bogner and use whatever's in your guitar.
Since they have prominent mids, it's best to stay with naturally EQ'd pickups though. I like the C-5 and Seth the most right now.

HOW IS THE CC thru your Bogner?

The CC always sounds real good, but real dense, since both the Bogner and the CC has thick low mids and a smooth top. I'm interested in hearing and A8 Custom though it, but tend to gravitate toward A5.

I'm excited to see how that new 10K Brobucker sounds though it. If it's a thick vintage A5 sound, I'm gonna be happy.
