Best solid state amps of 2015

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

I was impressed by the Super Champ. Modeling preamp into a tube power section, though.

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

I had an amp go out at a show and I had to use the backup amp the other guitarist had which was a fender mustang and I must say I wasn't impressed but then again I had to use the patches that were loaded. which means no eq tweaks and it was way to bright and thin for my taste. maybe if I had more time I could have fixed it more to my liking but im no sure

A PEAVEY BANDIT 112 TRANSTUBE WITH A SHEFFIELD SPEAKER 12" 100 WATT ITS LOUD AND HAS SUPER TONE

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

the new RG series by Randall is suppose to be killer
Orange Crush solid states are very nice.
Peavey Vypr is a damn good amp too.

I'm personally more of a tube amp guy but I always appreciate a nice solid state amp too!

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

I use solid state amps because I like the sound.

The price and lack of maintenance just makes it better for me.

Have you ever looked into the Dime SS unit ?

I would not mind having one of these heads.

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

IMO the Peavey Bandit 112 transtube "Silver strip" one of the best SS amps still to this day!!!!

Re: Best solid state amps of 2015

randall has so many amps, and every time I go to look one up it's discontinued/no longer available. what do they do, make like a couple hundred of something then move on to the next thing? they all seem to be pretty similar in verbal description too, I can't quite figure out their deal.

wow, I see that t2 head is 400 watts - that's insane!

The one in the demo (T2HL ...same as the one I've got) is a downsized 100 watt head... they sound extremely similar though. The T2HL is slightly rounder/more tubey if anything. . It's got massive saturation & headroom too..despite it's down-scaling from 400-100 watts. They're both MIC, although the earlier T2 was apparently "assembled" in the US.

Listen to clips of Quilter amps. They sound just like every other ss amp. Nothing special.
