Re: best soundcard for recording

yes i would have to second the M-audio soundcards. I would say your best bet would be the Delta 44. It comes with a mini breakoutbox with 4 1/4 input/output jacks. The sound quality is excellent 24/96K and has 0 latency monitoring. I have the M-audio Audiophile 2496 wich is a similar card but has a midi/digital hookups and only has rca in and outs instead of 1/4. My card is cheaper and will essentailly do the same thing but you are going to need a mixer or something to act as a in between your soundcard and your guitar/mic etc. I have a Yamaha MG10/2 and it works great for a lower end basic 4 channel mixer. Persoanlly I think your best bet would be the Delta 44 and the mixer or at least Delta 44 and a DI box. The mixer has 1/4' and XLR connections for your mic's etc and EQ, phantom. Without one you can still do it but your recording will sound weak and and quiet, and basically ****ty and you will still need something to hook your gear up to the computer. You need the pre amps in the mixer for a good signal also.
