Best Speakers for 2X12 open back combo?

[G&Legacy]

Crate v-series tube amp. I play on the clean channel with a Jeckyll and Hyde distortion pedal (Hyde is usually always on as high gain as possible). I want it to clean up when I turn down.

recommendations?

I really like the Eminence Texas Heats, I have one paired with a GB12 in my open back cab, wouldn't mind having 2 THs. All around great sounding speaker clean or dirty.

What are the stock speakers you have? My crate v3112T came with the tonetubby which is like an eminence cannabis rex (licensed out the cone to them) so that might be a good option if you don't want to pay the tone tubby price. I love the thing.

Friends got a VFX5212, V50 with Tone Tubby's, sounds awesome. We are actually in the process of swapping out the tubes. Kinda tired of the GT tube sound that comes in them.

I'd go more the british route with two alnico blues (or red fang, webers or other cheaper versions as long as there alnico) or one blue and one greenback. Another idea is a weber blue dog and silver bell.

Just fyi the green tone tubby is modelled after the greenback i believe too for reference.

The best would be either two Celestion G12H30's or one G12H30 and one Vintage 30. Buy used on Ebay and you'll get them for under $200. for the pair if you're patient. Keep your old speakers and put them back in the amp if you sell it...keep the Celestions for your next amp.

the mix of the v30 and g12h is fantastic, i prefer it to a pair of either. i cant speak of the new chinese celestions, only the older english made.

Im with Lew (again) on this one...one V30 and one H30...and again keep them for your next amp!
