Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

Re: Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

Just curious if anyone has dealt with a lesser known company that puts out a high quality product for a good price.

For modern brands, I've heard Legator guitars are absolutely outstanding, even for their lowest models.

For old stuff, Fernandes. :)

Absolutely. I wrote a whole series of articles about known and soon-to-be-known guitar companies that also happen to use our products.

If I ever get the money, I'm going call Knagg guitars. That Chesapeak Severn single coil is absolutely stunning to look at. My call for best looking guitar ever made...

CMG (Chris Mitchel Guitars) and their sister company devilcat amps.

About to order a custom form them, maybe.

I think I'm going to try Ethan Hart Guitars. They seem to put out an amazing product and have the designing experience of Greg Bennet who has over 4 decades of experience with companies such as Gibson, Jackson, etc. I'm trying to decide between the blue or white. I recently posted about them in this forum if you want links to their website or YouTube Videos. They seem to be designed specifically for performance, visual aesthetics came second.

KXK is another relatively small and unknown company putting out some good stuff. RAN is another obscure company as well.

Reverend. Not new, and popping up on radar more often now; amazing guitars for the price point.

Frank Verrilli based out of Atlanta, GA builds some awesome guitars that play and sound as good as it gets. He does a lot of relicing and modding as well. Made a cool American Flag Tele for the one of the guitarists with the Zac Brown Band.

Wayne Guitars is the current brand by Wayne Charvel, although his son Michael is the engine behind that company. These are phenomenal guitars–insane quality. Expensive but top of the line stuff here.

My favorite though....Musikraft, USACG and Warmoth. Custom build your own to the exact specs you want. I feel that Musikraft offers slightly better quality wood and craftsmanship; however, I wouldn't bat an eye at a Warmoth or USACG either. Not a complete guitar brand but still...insane quality for the price.
