Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

Re: Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

Not sure if that unknown, but Blade Guitars. Swiss based I think, outsourced to... somewhere, can't remember. And great instruments.

Re: Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

For people on a budget, I would like to add Hagström (value for money, versatility), Michael Kelly(same as Hagström), London City(incredible value for money) and maybe Eastwood(vintage reissues that actually work out really well). They all are very different, but I think you can hardly go wrong with any of these top acoustic guitars brands for the prices they list.

Not sure about Hagström... They had some nice guitars 60's - 70's, but aren't they made in China these days.

Not saying that makes them anyway bad necessarily, but value for money does seem suspectible compared to other eastern built instruments...

We have a couple in at the store at the moment, and what a surprise. I played the Metropolitan C for a little while and it was very enjoyable in terms of playability and tone. Can’t vouch for consistency across range or even model type, but for $350 inc. hard shell case, this one is amazing.

Two come instantly to mind:

Peter Crossley's guitars are amazing;
And of course mine...DJB Custom Guitars

Re: Best underground/unknown guitar companies.

I really like some of these innovative styles. But many of them forget the very basic design principle of "form follows function". With a lot of them, the form has no relation to function (and some even reduce the function!)...they have just tried to make visual impact. Which, I guess is ok if that's your thing.
