Best Wah Pedal???

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

Teese and Fulltone. The Budda Bud Wah is also good, for less money.

The problem with many cheaper wahs is that in OFF mode, they shave some of your highs off the signal.....like old Dunlops and Vox.

Get familiar with the Forum Search function too, as there's already been volumes of info posted on almost any topic you can think of. This forum moves way too fast, so that info hits the cosmos really quick.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

There is no best, not at all. I have a few special needs in a wah pedal...iot has to be true bypass, I have no use for optical wahs at all and it has to work well with fuzz pedals not to mention have a very familar feel to it under my foot...for me Teese is the only real answer, but there are other great wahs out there. Fulltone, Budda, even the reissue Vox was can sound decent.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

Dude, theres no "best"

especially when you don't tell us a single thing about your needs for the pedal

Single coils or humbuckers ?

Price range ?

What styles do you play ?

What type of wah sounds do you like ?

How versatile do you need it to be ?

Do you desire a buffer to drive a fuzz ?

Does it need to be true bypass ?

etc etc

Asking in the amp forum would be a good start too, this is the guitar forum and will not get any many views.

Also try the search, the "best" wah is debated a few times a week

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

Thanks for the help. I use a Humbucker. Just looking for a wah with a wide range. Don't want to spend more than 200. One with great clean tones.

PS. I tried using search several times and sometimes it doesn't work, but I didn't seem to find anything directly related to Wah Pedals

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

forget the web wheelin', just go to a store, plug in to as many as you can, and buy the one that sounds good

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

I ordered a Budda based on some good words on it here. Hoping to have it here this weekend.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

It all depends on your rig. I was told by people that the crybaby was the standard, but ended up with a vox, just because it sounded good with what I had.

It's the type of thing you have to try.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

I like the Dunlop Crybaby from Hell wah. It has 6 settings so you can set whether it's high and screaming or low and throaty. It has a sweep control, so you can have a slow, gentle transition or a fast one with a big spike in the middle of it. There's a fine tune, which adjusts how cutting it gets in the tow down, and lastly there's a +1 to +15db boost you can kick on for some extra push if/when you need it.

I'm not a big Pantera guy at all and I avoided this wah for the longest time because of it... but it really is a killer wah pedal and I regret having avoided it for so long.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

The 535Q is definitely worth mentioning because it's one of Dunlop's best. The only older Dunlop I really like was discontinued......Mr. Crybaby Super. In off mode, it doubled as a passive volume pedal. That's one feature I wish EVERY wah pedal had built into it.

Re: Best Wah Pedal???

The last wah that I owned was a Morley and that was 28 years ago. They've improved on their designs quite a bit, I'm sure, but I don't own one myself at the moment. There are lots of 'em out there, though... Have fun looking!
