Best way to paint Floyd rose parts?

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
Ive got some upgraded block locking screws (steel: silver colored) and some brass fine tuner screws for a floyd. Id rather keep the stock look of the guitar. Is there anything I can use to paint these parts that would both look professional and not chip off? I was going to use black nail polish, but it doesnt color well enough. And, Im going to leave the threads un colored to avoid any functional problems..

Thanks

That's usually sprayed on and then baked so it sticks. Why not just buy black parts?

After a proper sanding car paint can work pretty well imo if you can find someone do it around you.Just 2 pass and they are done.

The steel locking bolts you can take to a gunsmith and have them "blued", at least if they`re not CrNi stainless steel. Brass unfortunately can`t be blued, because bluing is really just controlled rusting, and brass doesn`t rust. But it`s one of the most the most durable finishes you can have on steel, same thing the original bolts use, as well as countless firearms that are still black 100 years later.

Otherwise spray paint is your only real option, but it will wear quickly, especially if you spray it thinly enough that it looks "right". The original fine tuners are thinly powdercoated these days when they`re black (the rest are of course chrome or gold plated)

I`m curious as to where you got the unplated + uncoated brass fine tuners, though... I know Schaller doesn`t sell them, not even to OEMs...

Livewire Guitars in the US offer Floyd powder coating in any color.

They are mainly known for their custom guitars and Jem swirl finishes, which is how I found them recently.

I had a local place do a quote for me to do one of those elctro plating methods on some bridges and neck plates etc. it wasn't cheap they wanted $100 but they had a huge range of cool colours and finishes. I would have been able to add for items in for that price they just have a minimum of 100

Black wasnt an option for the kit I got. The screws are heavier than stock for more mass and dont rust

the fine tuners are Floyd rose branded. Ill probably just keep them as spares since the brass wont look right on this guitar.

I bought the kit mostly for the TI insert blocks and I do like the heavier, rust resistant steel screws.
