Best way to properly break in a new speaker?

Re: Best way to properly break in a new speaker?

slowly, or should I say at low to medium volumes. cranking it up playing it is cool, but for a quick breakin, run a CD player through it at low volumes for 8 hours at a whack. Loosens it up considerably. There just needs to be a bit of music runnign through it, nothing cranked, just a stead signal.

Otherwise, if you're not in a hurry, just play the snot out of it and it'll break in in no time at all.

Depends on the construction of the speaker, really. Many modern speaker materials do not need the same break in time that older materials would. But to be safe, a few hours at very low volumes should loosen up the materials quite well. I was able to install my Greenbacks into my practice amp one at a time before using them in the 2x12 cab with the Marshall... the practice amp at low volume (bedroom settings) was a pretty easy way to break them in.

Yeah- run a signal in and leave it on for a long time.

Use it as a good reason to sit down and play guitar for hours on end.
