Better bass pickups for slap/pop?

I'm really digging warwick basses nowadays. And instead of buying a new TV since mine broke I'm gonna take that money and buy a bass. I was thinking a Warwick Corvette. But I'm not sure if I want to get that one or maybe one of the models with a humbucker. Which would be better for slapping and popping? A humbucker or single coil?

I'm really a guitarist for the most part. So I'm not really sure what style I have for the bass. Although I do find blues and jazz to be VERY fun when I'm playin bass and my friend are playimng guitar.

humbuckers give the 'thump' you need, SCs are useful if you want that razor-edge 'pop' which some people like..

i like a mixture of both - a gut-punching slap, and a solid, meaty 'KUNG!' on the pops... i love the bassist from sikth's tone, his is the perfect metal slap thing..

i get all the tones i need from an EMG 35P/35J set - they're humbucking AFAIK, but they cover everything i've ever needed

Well...imo the two best basses for slap are the Jazz and the Stingray, so I don't think it really comes down to a HB vs. SC question. Within those categories, I think there are some designs that are better and worse than others, but neither category clearly trumps the other. Plus, since almost every Warwick ever has got active EQ control, you'll have a lot of ability to shape the sound.

Yeah after reading a little more about some Warwick basses I see that the Corvette FNA model has a push/pull volume knob to activate active slap contour EQ. Which sounds like a good thing.
