They're marketing it as an 80s throwback, and most Jacksons from that era with Floyds weren't recessed. I'm not exactly sure when Jackson started recessing them, but they weren't standard until their USA production series launched in 1990.

If I had the money, Id so buy this. Ive always loved Lita's old Hamer that was black with the white body binding, plus as I mentioned Phil's Destroyers, the upside down stock is a win (IMO). Its just ticking all my boxes. Just no dough.. Only thing I dont prefer is gold hardware cuz of the color wearing off, but not sure anything else would look as good..

Very cool guitar. The MSRP is a little daunting tho... Never liked a neck with a scarf joint.

Yeah, as giddy as I am about it, I dont think I could lay down that kind of scratch for a guitar. And, yeah, for that kind of money, you'd think it would be solid. thats one thing I love about my Charvels,no sharf.

I remember reading about this guitar. The first one was made for Phil Collen of Def Leppard as a tribute to the Ibanez Destroyer he played during Pyromania.

$5400, tho... ouch... at least I'm sure if I was ordering one they'd build it with a std headstock. Now that I own one, I'm not a fan of reverse headstocks.

Sounds strange to me cause scarf joint is such a typical Jackson feature, and one of the reasons why their guitars have a reputation of being solid. Some say they're bulletproof. So, why would you want a Jackson without one?
Uh, unless it were a strat head San Dimas or something along those lines...

Check out the Dean USA Custom shop. They custom build explorer and ML style guitars. I think they can build a better version of that guitar for less.

I would never say Dean could build a better Jackson. Two different schools of guitar building IMO.

I can't wrap my head around what's so exciting about that Kelly in question... tumeni pickups, tumeni knobs, flattop body and abalone sharkies, wtf. And as much as I love reverse pointy headstocks, I can't swallow it on a Kelly, it just breaks the geometry in a wrong way and gives me eyesore. The standard beveled body Kelly feels unwieldy enough for me already.

Friedman had the hottest Kellies ever and this one doesn't quite measure up to those IMhO.
